I have a $5000 credit card bill, is that excessive debt

I take home $4000/month. I have been paying $500/month on my credit card bill and hope (with interest) to have it paid off by December. Would you think this would be considered excessive amount of credit card debt when I search for a new job and they do a background/credit check? My score is 740.
Answer1:If you dont lose your current job then youll be fine. However, any debt is excessive. Remember you are losing money you could have been earning in interests at a savings account, for example. Thats all I know.
Answer2:refer to this relevant source http://www.newhorizon.org/credit-info/hope that helpshave a good day
Answer3:Yes, that is excessive debt. The average credit card balance is $2,200, or about 5% of family income. Some families owe significantly more, while others have no credit cards at all. Nearly half of all Americans carry credit card balances.
Answer4:If this is all your debt, then no, it is not excessive. However, if you owe on a car loan etc., this could be getting to the high point. This will not be a problem for a new job background check. But I would pay it off asap. Can you pay more than $500 per month?
